2021, International Journal of PaleopathologyCitation Excerpt :The volumetric study by Kennedy et al. (1998), based on 20 magnetic resonance imaging acquisitions, notes a variation of 1.9 cm3 for the pars triangularis, 2.2 cm3 for the pars opercularis and 2.5 cm3 for the pars orbitalis. Associations of the overgrowth of these pars with schizophrenia (Lieberman et al., 1992) and professional music practice (Sluming et al., 2002) have been proposed. It is thus difficult to link the morphological variation identified for individual 556_1 to human biological variability or to a specific pathology.
