Files in this Data Supplement:
- supplemental material - Supplementary Figure 1. Structural MRI for Patient BL revealing lesions in the right-hemisphere inferior optic radiations.
- supplemental material - Supplementary Figure 2. Visual field map. Results (percent of trials in which BL reported seeing anything) from a visual field mapping procedure in which a 3.2 x 3.2 shape was presented repeatedly at each of nine locations in each quadrant in a random order. Percentages calculated from 18 observations per location.
- supplemental material - Supplementary Figure 3. Horizontal and vertical eye movements as functions of time. Eye movements were monitored during fMRI data acquisition using a custom built 30Hz MRI-compatible video camera that provided input to ViewPoint EyeTracker software (Arrington Research, Inc., Scottsdale, Arizona). The X and Y position data were corrected for a slow linear drift (induced by the eye tracking equipment and not by eye movements) that occurred over the course of each scanning run. The graphs depict the X and Y position (labelled accordingly) of the eyes over time during a single representative run for Patient BL, excluding blinks. As illustrated by the figure, Patient BL maintained accurate fixation.
- supplemental material - Supplementary Figure 4. fMRI split-half reliability results for Patient BL. The right panel depicts the results from runs 1-3, while the left panel depicts the results from runs 4-6. Panels are labelled accordingly.
- supplemental material - Supplementary Figure 5. Two coronal slices (perpendicular to the anterior/posterior extent of the calcarine sulcus) for Patient BL. These slices show that activation from wedge 5L extends into to the fundus of the calcarine instead of merely jumping from the upper to the lower region of V1 (indicated by red arrows).
- supplemental material - Supplementary Figure 6. fMRI results at various thresholds. (a) Statistical maps for Patient BL showing maximum correlation in each voxel at different statistical thresholds, labelled accordingly. (b) Statistical maps for Patient BL in response to wedges 2 and 3 only, with the area found to be maximally correlated with a wedge in position 5 outlined in black. Various thresholds are labelled accordingly.
- supplemental material - Supplementary Figure 7. fMRI results for an example control participant in response to wedges 1, 5, and 6 only (wedges 2, 3, and 4 were excluded from the analysis) at various thresholds, labelled accordingly.
