Files in this Data Supplement:
- supplemental material - Supp. Fig. 1. Dendrograms of prestin homologs used in ET analysis. A) Dendrogram showing phylogenetic relationships of prestin homologs from all species, used in the global ET analysis. B) Dendrogram of mammalian prestin homologs, used in obtaining mammalian-specific ET rankings.
- supplemental material - Supp. Fig. 2. Raw data from electrophysiological measurements. Represented are raw data obtained from representative cells transfected with WT or mutant prestin. The top three rows of panels represent average membrane capacitance at f and 2f (in picofarads) of selected mutants, and bottom row of panels represents average membrane resistance determined by the DC method (in MΩ) of selected mutants. Average series resistance (Rs) is indicated in each panel of the bottom row. Data are obtained by averaging 5-8 measurements from a single voltage-clamped cell transfected with the indicated mutant.
- supplemental material - Supp. Fig. 3. Prestin-transfected HEK 293 cell at 8h and 24h HA-prestin fluorescence (red) clearly shows the presence of the bulk of prestin in the ER/Golgi system and not in the plasma membrane (blue) at 8h, while at 24h post-transfection the distribution pattern is reversed and most of the prestin can clearly be seen in the plasma membrane.
