With the beginning of 2002, we thank those editors who are rotating off and welcome the new. Reviewing Editors leaving are Moses Chao, Randy Reed, and Carol Barnes. Pat Levitt also leaves to become a Senior Editor. We have had strong growth in the areas covered by these editors. This of course reflects admirably on the confidence and respect that authors have for their Reviewing Editors, so we are tremendously grateful for their services.
The new Reviewing Editors replacing these individuals are Freda Miller, Karl Herrup, and Sam Deadwyler. Josh Sanes replaces Pat Levitt. We are fortunate to attract these new members, who are well known in their fields, and welcome all of them on board.
Dennis O'Leary is rotating off as Senior Editor. Dennis has overseen the enlargement of the scope of the Development section to Development/Plasticity/Repair. He has also been behind the push to bring down the costs of color to make us more competitive in this and other areas. We are fortunate to attract Pat to assume the mantle to continue to build strength in this vital area of neuroscience.
In the central office, Deborah Plavin has been promoted to Managing Editor. Deborah is well known to all of us already through her work with Kym Campbell this past year in bringing stability and expertise to the journal operations in Washington. We look forward to building even stronger bonds in the coming year through Better Living Through EMail and Online (!).
Morna Conway, our Journal consultant, will continue to provide expert advice, particularly on finances. Finally, on behalf of theJournal I would like to give a warm welcome to the new Executive Director of the Society, Marty Saggese. We are looking forward to his bringing even greater efficiency to the operations of the Society and the Journal, and helping us all meet the challenges ahead.
